2003 Profile: CB Shawn Strickland

CB Shawn Strickland is another top notch cornerback from the Peach State looking very closely at the Clemson Tigers. Strickland is a standout two-way player with 4.45 speed and outstanding athleticism. Scott Kennedy has the latest in this detailed report.

Buford High School in Buford, GA went 15-0 last year winning the State Championship. Shawn Strickland (5'11, 162, 4.45) returns for another run this year while playing corner and wide receiver.

Strickland has tremendous speed and lateral movement as well as good explosion. He is a good enough athlete to play wide receiver or corner, but he's likely to play corner on the next level.

"I play wide receiver and corner for my team," said Strickland. "Most teams are looking at me to play corner though. I may get to the Furman camp this summer. I don't think I have any offers yet; I haven't checked with my coach in a while. I don't really have any favorite teams, but I guess my top 5 would have Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, South Carolina, and Florida State on it."

While Strickland doesn't know of any offers yet, it would be a major surprise if he finished the summer without any. At 5-11 and 162 pounds, a sub 4.5 forty, a 4.28 shuttle, and a 36 inch vertical leap, he's got the physical tools to play anywhere he wants.

Strickland also runs track, and specializes in the Triple Jump and 4X100. We will continue to keep you updated on Shawn Strickland throughout the year.
