SC DE Plans Clemson, Georgia Visits

One of Scout.com's Top 10 juniors in South Carolina is planning to visit the Tigers and the Dawgs over the course of the next few weeks. CUTigers.com has the latest on the prize recruit in this recruiting update.

6-5, 230 pound defensive end prospect Cliff Matthews is building an impressive offer list entering the end of his junior year. "I now have seven offers. I have offers from Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. I am also hearing from Georgia, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech," Matthews told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

When asked about his current leader, Matthews responded, "Clemson is still my leader. But I'm going to wait a while (before committing). I want to wait until the season is over and then take some visits."

The Tigers will get another visit from the talented defender later this spring. "Yeah I plan on going up to Clemson. I'm not sure when I will go yet," he said. "I am also planning to go to the Nike camp at Georgia."

Matthews also said is doing well on the Cheraw track team this spring. "Yeah I am doing the shot-put, 200, 400, high jump and triple jump," he said. "Last year I came in second in the state in the shot-put. Right now I am breaking the state record. I just need to do it in the regionals for it to be official."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive end from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2007.
