Lake City LB Visits Clemson

Scotty Cooper, one of the top defensive prospects in South Carolina, spent the day in Clemson Wednesday and also had the opportunity to take in spring practice. CUTigers.com has all the details on the visit and Cooper's new top three in this recruiting update.

Scotty Cooper, a 6-1, 195 pound safety/linebacker prospect out of Lake City, traveled to Clemson for an unofficial visit on Wednesday.

"It went well. I came up with my coach. It went real well," Cooper told CUTigers.com. "I just watched practice. Then we toured the facilities. I talked with a lot of players and I got to talk with all of the coaches. I got to sit in on some of the position meetings."

The Palmetto standout also added another offer this week. "I got an offer yesterday from West Virginia," he said. "I already had offers from South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina State, Kentucky and Michigan."

When asked if he has any favorites out of those schools, Cooper responded, "I don't really have any," he said. "But I guess my top three would be Clemson, South Carolina and Virginia Tech."

The prize recruit also said that he will not be able to attend spring games at either Palmetto state school this weekend. "Yeah I will not be able to go to any of the spring games this weekend," he said. "I have to take the ACT. I am probably going to go to the Nike camp at Clemson. If I don't go there I will just go to one of their camps this summer."

What position will Cooper play at the next level? "I would play linebacker or safety. It depends on what my body does," he replied.

The Lake City standout was recognized as an All-Region selection last season after racking up 96 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, and four sacks.
