Q & A with OL Jarrod Britt

One of the south's top big men has the Tigers on his mind. Jarrod Britt, a projected guard on the collegiate level, offers the entire package as an offensive lineman, and he has Clemson and Florida as his current top 2 schools.

Big OL Jarrod Britt has scholarship offers from almost every major Division I-A program in the south, and only now is he starting to figure out his top choices.

But until he reaches a decision, there is a lot of work left to be done on and off the football field.

"His goal right now is to get up to 300 lbs and run under a 4.9 in the forty," says his father, Don Britt.

"He's extremely quick on his feet, and he's been working with one of the olympic track coaches alot lately," says Britt. "He really is the protypical offensive lineman for a school like Clemson, Florida, or Maryland. He has great footspeed for a kid his size."

Britt plays Class 5A football for McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, so he'll be playing against some of the top competition the Peach state has to offer this fall. And of course, he'll likely see considerable action on both sides of the ball.

Here is the latest on one of the Tigers' top offensive line prospects in another Q & A session.

What schools are recruiting you the hardest?
Right now it would have to be Clemson, they are recruiting me really hard. I like Coach West alot, he's a straight shooter. All the schools in the ACC and SEC have offered me scholarships, with the exception of Georgia.

Which Clemson coaches have been in contact with you the most?
Coach West has been my only contact so far. He's straight up with you, and he doesn't lie to you about anything. He's told me if I come in and work hard, I'll have a chance to do some good things up there.

Tell us about your experience with Clemson so far.
Well, we went up there a couple of weeks ago for a visit, just to look around campus, and I have to tell you I love that lake. I love to fish, and Lake Hartwell looked awesome. The campus was incredible, I really liked it a lot. We were up there the day the baseball team stomped ECU.

I've also been working out with Tim DeBeer a lot. He's great, and he has a lot of good things to say about Clemson. We've been talking about how great the campus is, and also about that lake up there.

Are you planning on going to any camps this summer?
Probably not, I've already gotten the offers that I've been looking for.

Tell us about your goals for the upcoming season.
I just want to win. We went 7-4 last year and made the playoffs, but we want to do more this year. All this hard work really doesn't amount to a lot if you don't win.

Will you be making the trip up to Clemson this fall for a game?
Oh most definitely. I'll go to Clemson and Florida to see what things are like.

When were you officially offered by Clemson?
Coach West called early in the month of May to let me know about it.

What schools would be in your top 5 right now?
Well, Clemson and Florida will be my top two. I'm going to wait until after the season to see how everything pans out. I'll be looking to see how teams do this year before I make my decision. I also want to take all my visits.

We'd like to conclude by thanking Don and Jarrod Britt for taking the time to speak with us. We'll continue to have updates on the big offensive lineman as the football season draws ever closer.
