Quick Hits with RB Joe Joe Cox

This bruising back out of the Peach state is not one to be overlooked this fall.

RB Joe Joe Cox
Twiggs County High School
Jefferson County, GA

STATS: Rushed for 1,662 yards and had 475 receiving yards as a senior at Twiggs County High School...ran for 1,852 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior...also had nearly 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore.

CHOSE CLEMSON OVER: Maryland, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA and West Virginia.

STRENGTH: Has a strong lower body that allows him to run through tackles. Shifty and makes strong cuts. Also has good vision and balance that allow him to bounce off tacklers. Will remind many Clemson fans of former Tiger RB Chad Jasmin or current RB Reggie Merriweather.

HE SAID IT: "My stiff arm is my best thing on the football field," he said. "I like to run people over. I'd rather run through you than around you any day. I think I mostly need to work on my footwork. I am going to try to get in great shape (before arriving to Clemson). I know the players will be faster and hit harder. I want to be ready to play if I'm needed."

WHY CLEMSON? "I like coach Bowden, and Clemson has a great fan following," Cox said. "Plus I just felt comfortable on all the visits I took up there. I talked with a lot of the players. I spoke with James (Davis), Kyle (Browning), Reggie (Merriweather), Duane (Coleman) and also Charlie (Whitehurst). They told me they were ready for the game. They said they were looking forward to me coming up to Clemson. I wished them good luck."

COACH BOWDEN SAYS: "He's a guy we really liked early on that we had to hold on to for a long time. He's a bigger back that can also be explosive. Coach (Ron) West did a really good job recruiting him for us."
