STATS: Had 30 catches for 450 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior...played in a run-oriented offense for most of his career.

CHOSE CLEMSON OVER: Georgia, Oklahoma State, Colorado and Michigan State.

STRENGTH: Tall, long receiver. Catches the ball with his hands. Excellent hands and body control. Great concentration and ball skills. Can catch the ball with defenders draped over him.

HE SAID IT: "I told the coaches I was going to try to put on ten more pounds before I get up there this summer," he said. "I am going to hit the weights and try to drink some shakes at night. I will also try to work on my speed so that I can keep my speed while I put on a few pounds."

WHY CLEMSON? "Basically, I verbally committed earlier this summer when I camped at Clemson," Johnson said. "I had to get my mom to come and see the campus and meet the coaches. I wanted her to see where I would be spending four or five years. I wanted to make sure she was comfortable. The whole weekend I talked with Coach Blackwell and Coach Swinney. They showed my mom the school. We had some meals together. The coaches talked a good bit about the opportunity I would have to play early at Clemson."

COACH BLACKWELL SAYS: "Kendrick Johnson out of Ft. Lauderdale Dillard is another big receiver that we had in camp that kind of flew under the radar from a national perception standpoint, but not from the people recruiting him. He had big offers and was the MVP of the All-Star game down there - two catches for 94 yards. He was another big receiver in our camp and blazed in the 40."
