Interest Growing for Upstate DT

Recruiting interest is on the rise for this impressive defensive tackle from the upstate. CUTigers.com has the latest on this star defender in this recruiting update.

Devon Thompson, a powerful defensive tackle out of Union High School is still looking for his first offer, but several schools including the Tigers are continuing to show a good bit of interest.

"I don't have any offers yet. I am hearing the most from Michigan, Georgia Tech and Clemson. I'm also getting some mail from others like Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and East Carolina." Thompson said in a recent interview with CUTigers.com

The talented defender has also been to Clemson once this spring and will be back in Tiger Town in May. "I went to one of the earlier Saturday scrimmages at Clemson. I couldn't go to the spring game because I had to take my ACT. I will be going to the Nike camp at Clemson," he said.

When asked if he has any favorites, Thompson responded, "Clemson, Michigan and Georgia Tech. I also like Wake Forest."

What will be most important to the Palmetto state standout when he selects a college? "Playing time will be important. I will also want my family to be able to see me play. I want to have the best people surrounding me. I want to be around good athletes and good people," replied Thompson.

When asked which teams are showing the most interest in his services, Thompson responded, "I would say Georgia Tech. I get several letters from them each week. Michigan has also come on strong the past few weeks."

Thompson's summer camp plans are still up in the air. "Yeah I don't have any plans yet. I'm still working on that," he added.

Clemson recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach David Blackwell is recruiting this talented defender for the Tigers.
