Top OL Down to Tigers, Wolfpack

One of the top offensive linemen in North Carolina appears to be closing in on a decision. Will the prize recruit roam Death Valley like his father did the during the Tigers' national championship season? CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

6-6, 265 pound offensive line prospect Landon Walker, just picked up a couple of new ACC offers recently. "I just got offers from Clemson and Wake Forest," Walker told CUTigers.com Monday evening.

When asked if he has any leaders, Walker responded, "It is really hard to put anyone on top right now. I have two leaders. I think Clemson and North Carolina State are at the top."

What does Walker like about both schools?

Clemson: "Well my dad played at Clemson in 1980 and 1981. He played offensive line. I have been down to Clemson a good bit. Last year I went down for the Boston College and Florida State games."

North Carolina State: "I like the atmosphere at State, and I like the coaches. My recruiting coach, coach Dunlap, is a real nice guy. I think I fit in good down there."

The East Wilkes (N.C) standout plans to take an unofficial visit to the Tigers in May. "Yeah I am going down to visit Clemson in the 3rd week of May. I can't wait to see how the facilities are coming along. I haven't seen it lately but coach said it looked real good."

"So I am going to Clemson and then I will visit Wake again. I would also like to go back to Virginia Tech. They haven't offered, but I would like to check it out."

What would it be like to play at Clemson, just like his father?

"It would be great feeling, but it wouldn't be because my father player there," Walker insisted. "The whole Clemson experience is great. You've got Death Valley plus all of the great fans. I also have a lot of people down there that are like family, but they aren't family. I have a lot of people down there that are real close to my dad. They would really like to see me come to Clemson."

And what about a timeframe for a verbal commitment? "My gut is that it should be pretty soon," Walker said when asked about making a decision. "It won't be much longer. I should make a commitment before the end of May."

How will the North Carolina standout make a decision? "I guess when I checkout Clemson I will see if they have more to offer," he said. "It could go either way. Coach Amato is coming down Friday. I think Clemson is coming next week."
