Louisiana Tight End High on Clemson

One of the top tight ends in the southeast had his life turned upside down over the past year thanks to Hurricane Katrina. But as he turns his thoughts towards his future, Clemson University is one of the schools on his mind. CUTigers.com has the latest on the star tight end in this recruiting update.

6-6, 230 pound tight end prospect David Rue has only one scholarship offer entering the Spring Evaluation Period, but expect that to change over the course of the next few weeks. "Right I have an offer from Mississippi," Rue told CUTigers.com. "Clemson has been talking about offering, but they haven't yet. I am also getting mail from Arkansas, Southern Mississippi and Florida."

The Tigers could become Rue's leader if they decide to offer. "Yeah I camped at Clemson last year," he said. "I heard from coach Bowden a few times. The camp was real good. I really liked it up there. If I get the scholarship offer, I might take Clemson over Ole Mississippi."

The Louisiana standout formerly played for St. Augustine in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina last year. "I was displaced from New Orleans last year with the hurricane. I am going to Richwood in Monroe (La.) this year. The hurricane messed everything up."

Rue only played four games last season for Richwood because of the hurricane.

"Last summer I camped at LSU, Alabama, Mississippi, Auburn and Clemson. I was getting a lot of exposure. When I got relocated a lot of schools lost touch with me."

The blue-chip prospect is also already working hard with his teammates for next season. "I want to at least try to be district champs. We have a new coach and will need to learn a new system this year. We have been having spring practice. It is going good," Rue said.

Several coaches will be stopping by Richwood over the next few weeks to check on the talented tight end. "The coaches from Mississippi are coming by this week I think. There are also some others coming, but I am not sure who," Rue added.
