William and Mary College announced on Monday that freshman Calvin Baker has decided to transfer from the Colonial Athletic Association program. Baker played in all 28 of the Tribe's games in 2005-06 and averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 assists and 31.4 minutes per contests. He started all but one.
The 6-foot-2, 185 pound point guard prepped at Woodside High School in nearby Newport News, Va. He shared the 2005 Virginia Group AAA player-of-the-year honors with Boston College's Tyrese Rice.
Baker was a member of the CAA's all-rookie team and runner-up in rookie-of-the-year voting to James Madison's 6-6 Juwann James.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that Baker asked W&M to send his transcript to Clemson, Virginia and Winthrop.
