Bowden Visits Claytor

The recruiting battle for Gainsville offensive lineman Nick Claytor heated up this week. A major new offer and a visit from Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden were some of the highlights.

The 6-6, 315 pound prospect picked up a major offer this week. "I just got an offer from Florida State. I also got offers from North Carolina and South Carolina. I am also getting a lot of interest from Florida. I am also hoping Ohio State will offer after I camp there," Claytor told CUTigers.com.

Coach Tommy Bowden visited Gainesville High on Wednesday to check on the star lineman. "I had a visit from Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden today. That was big. I also had visits this week from LSU and some others also. I think Florida is supposed to visit soon."

When asked if he has any current favorites, Claytor responded, "I am still open. After Florida State offered I realized I should open it up a little bit now."

"That was a big offer. I really like Florida State. I was surprised they offered."

The prize recruit plans to narrow the field over the next few months. "After I attend the summer camps I should be ready to narrow things down. I want to spend time with the coaches and get to know them. I also want to meet the players."

Coach West is recruiting Claytor for the Tigers. "He is telling me how excited they are about me. He said once they liked what they saw once they got to breakdown the film. He tells me they really want me at Clemson."

The Gainesville standout is planning to camp at several schools over the summer. "I am going to Florida State, Auburn and Ohio State. I am probably going to do some more. I still have to narrow it down. It is hard because I can't go to every camp."

What will be most important to Claytor when he makes the big decision? "I want to win. If I go to the ACC, SEC or Big Ten I want to win a championship. Academically I want to make sure my degree is worthy. I want to make sure I will be prepared when I go out into the real world," replied Claytor.

Don't expect an early commitment from the Georgia standout. "I definitely want to wait until after the summer. I will probably commit during the football season."
