Top CB Talks Tigers; Decision Timeframe

One of the top cornerbacks in the southeast talks about his most recent offers and the likely timeframe he'll use to make a decision in the recruiting process.

Marcus Gilchrist, a 5-11, 170 pound cornerback prospect continues to add scholarship offers from some of the top programs around the nation.

"I have 17 offers now. The most recent one are from Arizona State and Southern California," Gilchrist told in a recent interview.

When asked if he has any favorites, Gilchrist responded, "I don't have any yet. I will pick some over the summer.

"I am going to try to make a decision before the season or early in the season. I will work towards a decision in August or September."

What will be important to the prize recruit as he selects a college? "I will be looking at academics first. I want to major in Computer Engineering," responded Gilchrist.

Clemson tight ends coach Billy Napier is recruiting the star defender for the Tigers. "He's a nice guy. I am getting a lot of hand written letters from Clemson." Which teams are recruiting Gilchrist the hardest at this time? "I think everyone is about even. I am hearing a lot from all the schools," replied Gilchrist.

He also added, "I am not sure where I will camp yet. I do plan to go to a couple."

As a junior, Gilchrist recorded 40 tackles and 11 interceptions.
