Davidson's (Ala.) Michael McNeil is quickly becoming one of the hottest prospects in the country in the class of 2007. McNeil was holding nine scholarships, but he has added four more to his list this week.
"I received offers this week from N.C. State, Memphis, Clemson and South Carolina," said Michael McNeil from Mobile, (Ala.). "I have always been interested in Clemson and South Carolina. I am starting to learn a lot more about N.C. State as well."
"Coach [Steve] Dunlap from N.C. State said he gave my highlight tape an "A." Coach [Vic] Koenning from Clemson came to practice the other day. He said I was even better in person than on my tape. He said they needed an enforcer in the middle. He wants people to be scared to come across the middle, and I would make people scared."
"Coach [Ron] Cooper from South Carolina is real nice. He was telling me about how my grandad and Coach [Steve] Spurrier played together."
Three main teams remain in the hunt early in the recruiting process, and we all know it's a long way until signing day.
"My favorites are still mainly the schools I mentioned earlier this week--Alabama, Florida State and Auburn," McNeil said. "I am open to other schools as well."
The 6-2, 197-pound defensive star has scheduled two summer camps and is looking forward to Friday's spring jamboree game.
"I know I am going to Florida State and Alabama's camp," McNeil said. "Other than those two camps I am not sure where else I will go."
"I am real excited about our spring game tomorrow [Friday]. We'll play Williamson, Baldwin County and Citronelle. We are ready to go out there and hit someone."
