Alabama DB Planning to Camp at Clemson

One of the top safety prospects in the Southeast continues to add to his impressive offer list, and the Clemson Tigers are one of the latest teams to officially move in with one of their own. has all the details in this recruiting update.

The Tigers offered the 6-2, 200 pound safety prospect Michael McNeil just two weeks ago. "Coach Koenning came by my practice last week. He was impressed. When he got back to the office he watched my film and gave it an A+. Then he let me know I had an offer," McNeil told in a recent interview.

Coach Swinney will not be the only coach recruiting Alabama this year for the Tigers. "Coach Koenning is the only coach I have heard from at Clemson. He is recruiting me for Clemson. He wants me as a safety," he said.

When asked about his current favorites, McNeil responded, "I am open to every school. Right now my favorites are Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. I could end up signing with Clemson, South Carolina or another school on signing day. I am not closed to the other schools."

The summer camp plans are still being finalized but several visits are already set. "I know I am going to Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. I have been talking to some coaches about other camps. I am going to make it up to Clemson. Another possibility is Ole Mississippi," McNeil said.

What will be the most important factors when McNeil decides on a school? "I am mainly going to look at the depth chart. I want to see if I will have early playing time. I don't want to go where they have four or five players like me or better. I don't want to have to wait until my junior or senior year to see the field," replied McNeil.

A verbal commitment could come early next fall for the Alabama standout. "I will probably make my decision right before the season starts. I am not in any rush. I would like to do it before the season.
