Tigers Offer and Lead for Athletic TE

One of the top tight ends in the deep south has a new leader after a recent offer from the Clemson Tigers. CUTigers.com has all the details in another extensive recruiting update. Is he ready to commit soon?

David Rue, a 6-5, 220 pound tight end prospect out of Louisiana received confirmation of an offer from Clemson last week.

"It was from when I attended camp last summer. Coach Burns called me last week. I was wondering about the offer and he confirmed it was firm. He said they were sending me papers for a full scholarship offer," Rue told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

The Tigers are the second offer for the talented tight end but expect that list to grow.

"I now have offers from Ole Miss and Clemson," he said. "I am also hearing from Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi, Arkansas, Florida and a few others," he said.

When asked about his current leader, Rue responded, "Right now I would say Clemson."

Timing for a verbal commitment timing is not clear for Rue. "I am not committing to anybody right now. I really don't know when I will be ready," he said.

The Richwood standout plans to attend several camps this summer, but the plans are not set at this time.

"I am going to the Louisiana Tech senior camp this weekend," said Rue. "I am going to try to get to as many camps as I can. I want to go to Clemson again, but I'm not sure if I will be able to since it is in South Carolina.

"My coach at St. Augustine took care of that last year for me. He took care of the transportation and helped me out a lot."

Which team is recruiting the Louisiana standout the hardest at this time? "Ole Miss is right now," responded Rue.

Rue attended St. Augustine High School until Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and had to transfer to Richmond. He caught eight passes for 200 plus yards in the 2005 campaign.
