Clemson LB Target Visiting This Week

One of the top linebackers in the southeast, who has often said the Tigers are at the top of his list, will camp at Clemson later this week. CUTigers.com has the latest on the star defender including his summer visit plans and his updated decision timing.

Scotty Cooper, a 6-1, 195 pound linebacker out of Lake City, plans to travel to Clemson for camp this week. "I am going to Clemson this week. I will be going down for the day on Thursday or Friday," Cooper said.

The Clemson coaching staff spoke with Cooper on Monday night. "I actually just got off the phone with Coach Vic and Coach Swinney. We were just talking about football. We talked about me coming down later this week."

The prize recruit also camped at South Carolina on Saturday.

"It was real good," he said of the trip. "They worked me out at strong safety. I got to work out with coach Cooper. I enjoyed some of the drills."

The Lake City standout appears to have a summer full of visits planned.

"Tennessee is having a camp on Saturday," said Cooper. "I am going to that. Then I am going to take a break until July. In July I am going to try to see Virginia Tech, LSU, Penn State and West Virginia."

When asked about his current favorites, Cooper responded, "I really can't say. I have some schools I think I am going to like, but I haven't seen all of them yet.

"I will probably wait to announce my decision in the fall. After I take my visits in July I will be ready to narrow it down to a top three or four. Then I will take some official visits and make my decision in the fall."

When not on his summer visit tour, Cooper will spend time working out and relaxing at home.

"I am working out, lifting and conditioning. When I am not working on football, I like to be by myself a lot," he said. "I just like to lie around the house and chill out. I'm not one to go out a lot."
