LB Chad Diehl Profile
The 6-2, 235 pound prospect camped at Clemson earlier this week so the staff could see him at his projected college position of linebacker.
"I went Tuesday to the one day camp. It went well," Diehl told CUTigers.com. "I talked with coach Napier. I got to spend time with him. We watched some film together. I also got to talk with coach Blackwell, coach Spence, coach Vic and coach Bowden."
The talented athlete is also hopeful that an offer from the Tigers will come once he begins his senior season.
"The coaches said there is no doubt that I could play there," he said. "They want to watch some film of me at the position they haven't seen me play (linebacker). They said they wanted to wait until the beginning of the season so they can see me play some linebacker."
One ACC power has already offered Diehl and others could join after the summer camp tour.
"Yes I have an offer from Virginia Tech," he said. "They are my only offer right now, but I am hearing from Clemson, Duke, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech."
When asked about his current favorites, Diehl responded, "Virginia Tech would be first right now since they offered. Then it would be Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke and Georgia Tech in that order."
If Clemson does offer, Diehl could easily join his teammates with a commitment to the Tigers. "I have been a Clemson fan for a while. I have known Will for the last three or four years. I have been up to games with him," he said.
What is the Palmetto standout looking for in a college? "I really want to feel comfortable," he responded. "All of the schools are a good bit away from home so I want to make sure I am comfortable. Clemson is close to home, but it is still a little bit away. I am looking for a good academic school and a good football program."
And what about other camps this summer?
"I am going to the Duke camp on Friday morning. I am going to the Wake Forest camp in July. I will also probably go to the Georgia Tech camp in July," he added.
