QB Willy Korn Profile

One of the top quarterbacks in the country made up his mind before the start of his junior season that he wanted to play college football at Clemson University.

Now, almost a year later, he's ready to step up his game to another level.

QB Willy Korn, Clemson's prize recruit in the 2007 recruiting class told CUTigers.com Friday afternoon that he will be enrolling next January at Clemson, meaning he will be on campus to compete with Cullen Harper and Tribble Reese for the starting quarterback position in the spring of 2007.

The decision, which Korn said earlier this year would come down to whether or not he felt like he could play as a true freshman at Clemson, was made after a meeting with Clemson offensive cooridnator Rob Spence earlier Friday.

Spence had the opportunity to evaluate Korn over the course of the last few days during Tommy Bowden's annual football camps held on campus.

"It wouldn't make sense for me to give up half of my senior year if I'm going to red-shirt my first year," Korn told CUTigers.com earlier this year. "Red-shirting isn't that bad of a thing, because it will give me a year to practice and work on picking up the offense. It just wouldn't make a lot of sense to graduate early and red-shirt that first year."

Korn now enters his senior season with no more doubts about his future on the field.

Yes, he will play his college football at Clemson, and yes, now he will also enroll at Clemson next January to begin his pursuit of the starting quarterback position eight months sooner than some had previously expected.
