2003 Profile: LB Deonte Burnam

Deonte Burnam can only be described as a tackling machine. He has totaled more than 500 tackles in his high school career, and has a top 4 that includes the Clemson Tigers.

Deonte Burnam can easily be described as a tackling machine. Playing linebacker since his freshman year, Burnam has accumulated over 500 tackles in his career. At 5-11 and 230 pounds with a 4.7 forty time, Burnam has the ideal frame to dole out the type of punishment that comes with making 200 stops a year. He posted an outstanding 4.3 shuttle time at the Nike Camp in Athens, GA, which shows the lateral movement needed to play middle linebacker.

While Burnam makes most of the stops on defense, he plays wherever he is needed on offense. "I pretty much start at linebacker and fullback," said Burnam.

"Depending on the scheme we're playing against, I've started at fullback, tight end, guard, or center. I also long snap for our team. I'll play linebacker in college though. My favorite teams right now are Clemson, Georgia, Florida, and Florida State. I don't have any offers yet, but I know I can play at the next level."

Burnam's last statement is one of confidence, not cockiness. He is also a 3.5 GPA student that has his head on straight and speaks honestly. He CAN play at the next level, and he will.
