Tigers Now Among Leaders for 4-Star RB

After an impressive camp performance last week in Clemson, a new team has emerged among the leaders for this 4-star running back out of the Atlanta area. CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

RB Roddy Jones Profile

Roddy Jones, a 5-10, 185 pound running back prospect camped at Clemson last week, and by all accounts the visit went very well.

"I was down there for camp on Thursday. It was fun. I got to work with a lot of the coaches. I worked mainly with coach Burns and coach Spence," Jones told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

As first reported by Scout.com late last week, Jones' impressive camp performance earned him an offer from the Tigers. "Yeah Coach Burns sent me a text message on Friday. I called him and he said they wanted to give me an offer," Jones said.

The Jackets and Terps had been the favorites for Jones, but with his new offer the Tigers are now squarely in the mix. "It definitely changed things for me. If I were to rank those three I would say Georgia Tech, then Clemson and then Maryland," he said.

What does he like about each school?

Georgia Tech: "I like the fact that they are in the city of Atlanta. It is a great city to live in. I like the coaches. They are all real cool. I like the way the program is shaping up and think they are going to compete every year in the ACC."

Clemson: "I like the campus. It has the college town feel. I like coach Burns and the other coaches. Coach Burns is a good guy. I have a lot of fun with him. I also like coach Bowden. They are also heading in the right direction."

Maryland: "I like a lot of the same things with Maryland. I like the campus up there. I like their business school. I am probably going to major in business. Their stadium is nice."

The 4-star running back also says he plans to make a return trip to Clemson this summer.

"I do want to go back to Clemson," he said. "I want to bring my mom so she can see the campus. I also want to sit down and talk with the academic people. I would like to get back up to Maryland, but that is going to be tough. I will probably go back sometime in July."

The talented running back also plans to make his decision before the end of the summer. "I am probably going to decide before the season starts. I will probably be in August."

What will Jones consider when he makes his selection in August?

"I just will look at the feel I get for each school. I want to go somewhere that I will enjoy going to school, with or without football. All of the schools have good programs so that will not be an issue," he responded.
