Future 5-star defensive line prospect DaQuan Bowers, a rising junior out of Bamberg Ehrhardt High School, now owns scholarship offers from many of the top football programs in the nation.

And the thing is, he hasn't even stepped on the field for his last two years of high school football.

In a recent interview with CUTigers.com Bowers said, "Right now I have offers from Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, LSU and others."

When asked about his current leader in the recruiting process, Bowers responded, "You can say I am leaning towards Clemson. I am."

The prize recruit also stated that while he has not yet made a verbal commitment, that could easily change over the next few week.

"I am probably going to make my commitment before the summer is over. It will probably be in the next few weeks," he said.

What does the Bamberg Ehrhardt standout like most about the Tigers?

"I like a lot of things," he said. "I like the coaches. I like the players. I like the environment there. Death Valley is great. I especially like that Ricky (Sapp) will be there. We are good friends."

What are Bowers goals for his junior year? "I want to help my team as much as possible," he said. "I want to try to win the state championship. I am going to play fullback on offense this year. I will play defensive end on defense."

The Palmetto state standout is also working hard over the summer. "I am just working hard in the weight room. I am trying to get in shape for the season. The coach is working us hard right now. I am about 6-6, 250 right now," he said.

Bowers and Summerville wide receiver A.J. Green are projected to be the top two players in South Carolina for the class of 2008.
