Countdown to Clemson is On for Butler

4-star defensive back Crezdon Butler, along with most of the freshman class, will arrive on campus next week to begin his career on the Clemson football team. Butler went on the record with earlier this week to discuss everything from his roommates to his goals for his freshman year in this report.

In less than a week, Asheville, N.C. native Crezdon Butler will officially begin his Clemson career.

"I will be there on Wednesday next week," said Butler. "I'm excited to get down there. Right now I am just going to room with Jeremy Campbell. Byron Maxwell is coming in August. Joe Joe was supposed to be my other roommate but I've heard he is going to JUCO."

The Shrine Bowl standout has been keeping in touch with the Clemson coaching staff as he prepares to enroll next week. "They said they were very excited. They are looking forward to me coming in and getting some time in early," Butler said.

In between making the state finals in two track events, Butler has been working hard to prepare to compete when he steps on campus next week.

"The workouts have been going pretty good. I have been getting stronger and faster. I have put on a couple of pounds. I am up to about 183," he said.

What is Butler looking forward to the most about getting down to Clemson?

"I guess the workouts. I am just ready to get into the program. I want to see what I can do to help Clemson win," he responded. Hopefully I will get to start in a few games. I want to get at least three interceptions and about 20 tackles."

Workouts and a possible trip to the Palmetto state are Butler's plan for his final week before he becomes a Tiger. "Right now I am just working out. I might go down to Mauldin and stay with my aunt for a while before I get to Clemson," he added. Top Stories
