Rees is an outstanding center prospect with several offers on the table, including Clemson, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Northwestern. And since true centers are very hard to find these days, Rees will definitely be one of the most heavily recruited out of the state of Texas this year.
In fact, Rees just recently entered Max Emfinger's Texas Top 125 list as a center.
Rees attended camp at Clemson last month before heading up to Northwestern for their camp at the end of June. The visit reportedly went very well as Rees impressed the staff with his size, speed, strength and agility. The big offensive linemen's latest vital statistics have him running a 4.84 in the 40 with a bench press of 335 lbs.
Northwestern coach Randy Walker offered Rees on the spot, just as he expected.
Pearland Head Coach Tony Heath, had the following to say about Trevor Rees in an interview earlier this week.
"A lot of schools are interested. Clemson has shown a bunch of interest. He's also getting looks from several other schools such as Rice, Colorado, Oklahoma and Northwestern," said Heath.
"He has a true center build for Division I level. We operate out of the shotgun, so he's got to pull up quickly. Plus, he's got great leverage off the snap and good bend in his knees."
And what about Trevor's strengths? "He's very strong. He has quick feet and gets up to that second level fast. He finishes blocks tremendously. He hasn't allowed a sack the last two years."
As it stands now, it appears as though Rees is one of the coaching staff's top targets on the offensive line, especially considering that Pearland runs the exact same offense as Clemson. Also, don't forget that several Tiger coaches have strong ties to Pearland High School.
Of course, we will continue to keep you updated on Trevor Rees throughout the upcoming season.
