Commitment Watch is On

Marcus Gilchrist, the top cornerback prospect in North Carolina in the 2007 recruiting class, is visiting Georgia today, but that won't that be the only visit he makes this weekend. has the latest in this recruiting update.

The 4-star prospect told earlier this week, "I am going down to Georgia on Thursday and leaving on Saturday," he said. "Then I am planning to stop by and visit Clemson on my way back. My mom, dad and sister will be coming with me on the trip."

For the last few months, Gilchrist has planned to announce a decision after his visit to Georgia and by all accounts that still appears to be the case.

"I am going to announce my decision after I return home from Georgia and Clemson. It will probably be the week after the visits," he said.

While has picked up on several strong rumors indicating a verbal commitment could come as soon as Saturday, Gilchrist said on the record that he is not yet sure how he'll release the the information to the public.

"I don't know yet. I am not sure how I will announce the decision," Gilchrist said.

Not surprisingly, the 5-11, 170 pound prospect has been working with his teammates over the summer. "We have been working in the weight room. We have also played a lot of seven on seven," he added.

As a junior Gilchrist recorded 40 tackles and 11 interceptions. He also scored 11 touchdowns, including three punt returns for scores, three kick returns, two interception returns as well as one receiving and two rushing. will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding cornerback from North Carolina, right up through signing day.
