Clemson Visit Impresses 5-Star TE

One of the top prospects in the country, 5-star tight end Rob Gronkowski, a native of the Williamsville, New York area, visited Clemson University on Tuesday. With offers in hand from from some of the top schools in the country, do the Tigers have a chance to land this top prospect from the northeast?

6-6, 250-pound tight end prospect Rob Gronkowski made his first ever visit to Clemson University on Tuesday.

"It was great. First we went to see Vickery Hall yesterday. Then we went to see the WestZone. It's coming along. It was impressive," Gronkowski told CUTigers.com.

The tour also included a stop in the players' apartments. "Then we went to see the apartments where the players live. They were pretty nice."

What did the New Yorker think of the college town of Clemson overall?

"I really liked it," Gronskowski responded. "It is beautiful. I got to talk with a few of the players. I met the tight ends. I got to meet Thomas Hunter. I hung out all night with Paul Muse. I also talked with the strength coach and spent a lot of time with coach Napier."

The New York standout traveled with his mother to Clemson and she also has been very impressed with Tigertown. "She really liked everything about Clemson," stated Gronkowski.

Has the visit to Clemson helped the Tigers chances of landed the 5-star tight end? "It has definitely helped," stated Gronkowski.

A meeting with head coach Tommy Bowden was expected to finish up his visit to Clemson in Wednesday morning.

Gronkowski also said he's expecting to take an official visit to Clemson later this year.

As a junior, Gronkowski caught 36 passes for 648 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior. He also earned first team All-Western New York and second team All-State honors.

He currently holds offers from Arizona, Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Syracuse and Michigan among others.
