One of the top athletes in South Carolina for the class of 2008 will make an unofficial visit to Clemson on Monday. has all of the details on his top schools and the purpose of his trip in another extensive recruiting update!

Chester head coach Victor Floyd told that rising junior Charles Whitlock, one of the top prospects in South Carolina for the class of 2008, will be traveling to Clemson early Monday morning to meet with head coach Tommy Bowden.

"I am going to run him up in the morning. We are going to meet with coach Bowden in the morning," Floyd told "The purpose of the trip is to meet with coach Bowden and let Charles see Clemson. I expect coach Bowden will offer Charles in the morning."

Whitlock plays both ways for Chester and should see time as a quarterback, receiver and cornerback during the upcoming season.

Coach Floyd described his prize recruit earlier this month to

"Charles is one of the most athletic young men I have had in my 14 years of head coaching," said Floyd. "He can play multiple positions. Some people are going to recruit him as a corner. We were at Wake Forest yesterday and love him at quarterback. Some teams like him at receiver. He will also be one of the top hurdlers in the state in track."

As far as recruiting goes, both Clemson and South Carolina appear to be in front, but that could change as Whitlock visits other schools in the coming months.

"To be honest he is probably wide open right now," said Floyd. "The in-state schools are probably his leaders right now because he has not been a lot of places. He has been to Georgia. They offered him when he attended their mini-camp."

Coach Floyd also said he fully expects Charles to come away impressed with Clemson tomorrow.

"I expect if you talk to him tomorrow after the visit he will be high on Clemson," he said. "Again he just hasn't been many places yet so I expect he is going to like everywhere he goes since it will be so new for him."

As of right now, Whitlock would be the No. 1 defensive back prospect in the Palmetto state for the class of 2008. Top Stories
