DB Charles Whitlock Profile
5-11, 180 pound defensive back prospect Charles Whitlock traveled to Clemson with his head coach Victor Floyd Monday for an unofficial visit.
"It went good," Whitlock said afterwards. "We got to go on a tour. They showed us the new WestZone. It is going to be really nice. We also got a chance to see the academic building."
The highlight of the visit for Whitlock was a meeting with Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden.
"I got to meet with coach Bowden. He gave me an offer. He just told me to stay in school and keep my grades up," he said.
Several of Clemson's best recruiters also met with the star athlete during the visit.
"I also got to see coach Napier, coach Swinney and coach Scott. Coach Blackwell was not there because he was watching the (Carolina) Panthers practice," Whitlock said.
Earlier this month in an interview with CUTigers.com the Chester standout had mentioned South Carolina as his leader. The visit to Tigertown now has the Tigers tied with the Gamecocks.
"It helped Clemson a lot," he said. "They are right there with South Carolina right now. It was really nice.
"I am done with the visits for the summer. But now comes the season and I am going to be working hard to prepare for it."
