2003 Profile: Noah Whiteside

Greenville WR Noah Whiteside has offers from all the big schools in his area, including both South Carolina and Clemson. Today we preview one of the top returning wide receivers in the state of South Carolina.

Names like David Smith and Terrell Allen have dominated the recruiting talk around the state over the course of the last few months, but what about Greenville's Noah Whiteside?

Whiteside (5'11, 175, 4.4) caught 69 passes for almost 1,400 yards and and 16 touchdowns last season for the Red Raiders. He also added 52 tackles and 6 interceptions while becoming the focal point of the Greenville secondary.

As a sophomore, he brought in 37 passes for 685 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Noah currently has 8 offers on the table, including Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Pittsburgh. He is also projected as a full qualifier with a 3.0 GPA.

Some recruiting experts like Whiteside as a wide receiver, but he looks like an ideal cornerback at the Division I-A level. He has outstanding 4.4 speed, and anyone that has seen him on film will tell you his one of the top athletes in the state.

Whiteside is a standout performer on the track, and he also plays shooting gaurd on the hardwood for the Red Raiders as well.

As far as the Tigers are concerned, interest between the two parties has likely leveled off, even though Noah will take all 5 official visits this fall- with one possibly to Clemson. He even camped this summer at Tiger Town and was clocked at 4.4 in the 40.

South Carolina has the early lead for his services and it will likely be the Gamecocks who win this recruiting battle in the end. But remember, as long as he plans on taking his official visits this fall, anything is possible. We've seen kids with much heavier leans change their minds plenty of times before signing day.

Of course, we will continue to keep you updated on Noah Whiteside throughout the upcoming season.
