2003 Profile: DE Chad Green

Chad Green is one of the most versatile players in the state of North Carolina, and he has a top 5 that includes the Clemson Tigers. Green is a massive defensive end prospect that will likely add 30-40 more pounds on his body in the next couple of years.

Ever heard of a defensive end playing wide receiver? That's exactly what Chad Green (6'5, 225, 4.5) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina has on his agenda this upcoming season.

"The coaches said I am going to play some wide receiver, but I played defensive end and tight end last year," said Green in a recent interview. He certainly has the athleticism to do it, running a legitimate 4.5 40 at several camps this summer. Last season he registered over 90 tackles and 14 sacks from his defensive end position.

"North Carolina is saying that I can be the next Julius Peppers. They are recruiting me as a defensive end. North Carolina State is saying that I can play anywhere. Florida State likes me as a defensive end," said Green.

What about Clemson? "Clemson likes me at defensive end. My favorite teams right now are N.C. State, North Carolina, ECU, and Clemson. They're all pretty even. I'm trying to narrow my list down to two right now."

While Green will still need to put on a few pounds to play on the defensive line in college, he certainly has the frame to do it, especially when you consider that he is over 6-feet, 5-inches tall. If not, he has the speed to easily make the switch to outside linebacker.

Either way, Chad Green is one of the top athletes coming out of North Carolina this season. We will continue to keep you updated on this standout athlete throughout the upcoming season.
