McDaniel Excelling at Hargrave

DeAndre McDaniel likely would have seen a lot of playing time in front of his home town fans Saturday night had he enrolled at Clemson University earlier this fall. Still, the blue-chip safety is having a good season at Hargrave while he works towards January enrollment.

DeAndre McDaniel, a 6-2, 195 pound safety prospect is having a strong season for Hargrave Military Academy.

"I am doing real well. Right now we have played four games," he said. "I have 16 tackles and three interceptions. I am also returning kicks. I am averaging around 35 yards on returns. We are 3-1 on the year."

The star athlete also said he watched the Tigers defeat the Noles on Saturday night.

"I watched it. I really enjoyed it," he said. "They played it kind of close. I had a feeling they would pull it out. Everyone up here was going against me. We pulled it out though."

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney continues to keep in touch with his prize recruit from Florida.

"Yeah I heard from Coach Swinney last week," McDaniel said. "Now that he can call once a week we get a chance to talk. He told me that since Hamlin was out I might have started this week for my first game against Florida State near my home."

While DeAndre would prefer to have been playing against the Noles Saturday night, he has adjusted to life at Hargrave.

"I am doing alright. Everyone is getting along pretty good up here. We have been here a while and everyone gets along good," he said.

The 4-star defender is hopeful that he can make the test scores needed to qualify with his next round of tests.

"I will take the SAT and ACT in October," stated McDaniel. "I think I will also be at the South Carolina game in November," he added.
