Clemson verbal commitment DeAndre McDaniel will travel to Clemson in a few weeks for his official visit and he will also have one of his talented teammates along with him. Find out who it is and when they'll be visiting in this recruiting update.

S DeAndre McDaniel Profile

Clemson 2006 signee and current verbal commit DeAndre McDaniel is having an outstanding season for Hargrave Military Academy.

"My last game I had eight tackles and one interception," McDaniel told in a recent interview. "For the season I have over 40 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. I am leading the team in interceptions."

The 4-star defensive back had considered coming to Clemson for the Georgia Tech game, but now it appears he will be unable to make the trip.

"I was going to come this weekend, but I am going to go home for the weekend instead," he said. "I will be coming up the weekend of the North Carolina State game for my official visit. Kareem Crowell should be coming up with me."

Despite the fact his visit has been postponed, the Clemson coaching staff has been in regular contact with McDaniel.

"Coach Swinney calls every week. Then I also call him during the week," he said. "I talked with Coach Bowden before the Temple game. He said he would let the players go home for the weekend. He told me they would play hard and they did. He also told me he couldn't wait until I get there."

Not surprisingly, the future Tiger defensive back is impressed with the play of Clemson this season.

"They have been playing really well all year," he said. "They have played great."

DeAndre also said he has been working hard in the classroom to prepare for the SAT and ACT.

"I actually took the SAT this weekend," he said. "I think I did pretty well. They have been helping me a lot to prepare for the test."

McDaniel's former teammate at Godby High School, Kareem Crowell, is also playing this year for Hargrave. also spoke with Crowell to see if Clemson has shown any interest during the last few months.

"It is going good. We are getting towards the end of season," said Crowell. "I am still committed to Louisville right now. I just want to wait until after the season and see what the recruiting process looks like. Then I will go from there. Recruiting will pickup for me once the season is over.

"But DeAndre has been talking to coach Swinney for me. We are going to go up together for the State game."

The 6-4, 320 pound prospect is also working to get a test score so he can enroll in January.

"I just took the SAT for the first time," he said. "It felt pretty good. I will get the score back in two weeks. Then next week I will take the ACT and then take the SAT one more time. I am just trying to get my score so I can enroll in January."

How does Crowell feel about what he's seen out of Clemson this year?

"I think Clemson is doing good this year," he responded. "They have two great running backs in Davis and Spiller. I wouldn't mind blocking for them," replied Crowell. Top Stories
