4-star tight end prospect Rob Gronkowski traveled to Death Valley Saturday to watch two of his top schools battle it out on the football field.

"It was a good trip. We got there and went right to the game. I liked the game. I really liked the atmosphere and the fans," Gronkowski told CUTigers.com.

Clemson assistant coach Billy Napier and coach Bowden spoke with the prize recruit after the game.

"After the game I talked to coach Napier a little bit," he said. "We also talked with coach Bowden for a few minutes. Coach Bowden just told me how they need another tight end.

"I just came up with my dad. He enjoyed the trip. He said he liked it."

How did the visit to Death Valley compare with other places he has visited?

"Clemson was the best place I have been. They have the best crowd and fans," he said.

The outcome of the game Saturday had his two brothers very excited, but the outcome surprised Gronkowski himself.

"Yeah, I was surprised at the outcome," he said. "I really don't have any other visits planned right now. So I am going to wait until the season is over before I start looking more."

Did the visit to Clemson on Saturday help the Tigers chances with the 4-star tight end?

"I don't know. It is about the same. I liked the visit," replied Gronkowski.
