Q & A with S Avery Roberson

Avery Roberson is looking to assert himself this season on one of the up and coming defenses in the state of Georgia, and whole host of schools are hot on the trail. One of the top ranked safety prospects in the country answers our questions in our latest Q & A session.

Avery Roberson (6-2, 190, 4.4) is hard hitting safety out of Atlanta's Booker T. Washington High School. He is currently ranked as the #7 prospect in the country at his position by TheInsiders.

This season, he'll line up exclusively in the defensive backfield after spending some time at linebacker last year. He'll also specialize as a punt blocker. Here is the latest from one of the state of Georgia's top athletes in this edition of Q & A.

Who would be in your current top 5?
Roberson: Clemson, Indiana, West Virginia- they just gave me a scholarship, Georgia Tech, Louisiana State.

Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?
Roberson: I'd say Indiana. They are recruiting me real hard right now.

Are they recruiting you as a safety?
Roberson: Yeah, as a safety, everybody likes me as a safety. I want to play DB. I could probably play corner.

Which schools did you camp at this summer?
Roberson: Clemson, that was it.

How did that go for you up there?
Roberson: I think it went real good. I went out there and show the coaches what I could do, I think I put on a pretty good show for them.

Has Clemson been in contact with your regularly?
Roberson: Yes.

Which coaches have been in contact with you from Clemson?
Roberson: Coach Burns been in contact the most.

How has practice been going for you?
Roberson: It's been going real good. It's tough getting used to waking up in the morning again and going back to school and everything.

How's your team look this year?
Roberson: We look real good. I think we'll win state this year. We've got the best defense in Georgia.

Have you set any goals for yourself or your team entering your senior season?
Roberson: I want to at least have 6 interceptions, and I want at least 4 punt blocks.

Will you playing any other positions this fall?
Roberson: I may be playing a little bit, but that's not look real good right now. (says laughing)

Did you they have you playing receiver?
Roberson: Yeah, but they call us DB's for one reason. It didn't turn out to well. (still laughing)

Which schools will you take an official vist to this fall?
Roberson: Not really, I haven't decided on them yet. I'm going to wait and see how it pans out.

When will you be looking to decide on your school of choice?
Roberson: I'm going to wait this thing out and probably decide on Signing Day.
