Tigers Making Move for 4-star DE

The Clemson Tigers are now one of two leaders for one of the top defensive ends on the East Coast. Why have the leaders changed for this blue chip prospect? CUTigers.com has all the answers in this recruiting update.

DE Tony Tucker Profile

6-3, 225 pound defensive end prospect Tony Tucker visited the University of Maryland last weekend and came away impressed.

"Last weekend I went to Maryland to watch their game against Miami. It was a pretty good visit. It was the second time I have been to Maryland. The first time was when I was six years old. A lot has changed for Maryland. I was pretty impressed," Tucker told CUTigers.com.

Did the visit to Maryland help the Terps' chances?

"They moved up quite a bit," stated Tucker.

When asked about his current favorites, Tucker responded, "My favorites are Clemson, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Maryland."

If today were signing day where would Tucker sign?

"I can't answer that," he said. "It use to be Georgia Tech, but now it is really between Clemson and Pittsburgh."

Why the change of leaders for the St. Johns standout?

"Pittsburgh has really been recruiting me hard and so has Clemson. They are really showing me the most interest right now," replied Tucker.

The Tigers will get an official visit from the prize recruit in January.

"I would like to get up for a game, but I am not going to be able to. I will take my official visit to Clemson the second week of January," he said.

"I am going to take my official visit to Pittsburgh on December 2. I am going to take on to Virginia Tech for the Virginia game at the end of November. I am going to Georgia Tech on December 8. I am still deciding if Maryland or FSU will get the final visit, but it will probably be Maryland."
