Clemson Staff Visits NC DE

The Clemson coaching staff turned its focus to recruiting this week and several coaches made a stop in Charlotte. Can the Tigers convince this former Alabama commitment to run down the hill next fall? has all the details in this recruiting update.

DE Kourtnei Brown Profile

The Clemson coaching staff appeared in mass on Monday to make a push for North Carolina defensive end Kourtnei Brown.

"Coach Napier, coach Rumph and coach Blackwell came by to see me on Monday. It went good. Basically they told me how things would be if I came to Clemson. They want me to play defensive end," Brown told in a recent interview.

When asked where he currently stands with his commitment, Brown responded, "Right now I am still open. I am just looking around. I am going to put everything on the table and see what I like.

"Right now I have offers from Clemson, Wake Forest and Alabama. The other schools that I think may offer are Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia." The 6-5, 225 pound prospect has an outstanding season for Victory Christian.

"I had 28 sacks this year," he said. "I had three sacks in the Shrine Bowl. I played in the Shrine Bowl for private schools. We had four guys on the team."

Brown says his official visit plans are up in the air at the present time.

"A lot of these coaches are giving me dates," Brown said. "I am writing them all down. Me and my mom will look it over and see what we are doing to do. I will probably start taking them in November."

Why did Brown commit to Alabama earlier this year?

"First of all, I liked it because for one it was my first offer. I liked the coaches. I got to know them real good. It would have been a good place to go and learn more about football and go to the NFL," replied Brown. "But now I really don't have a leader. I'm not sure where I would sign if today were signing day."

What will be most important when the Brown makes his final decision?

"I will look at playing time. I want to see how many defensive ends are in front of me," he added. Top Stories
