2003 Profile: CB LaBrose Hedgemon

LaBrose Hedgemon, out of Hoover High School is one of the top cornerbacks in the state of Alabama. Hedgeman has been receiving attention from quite a number of colleges and universities with abilities that have earned him the nick-name "Spiderman." Spiderman also likes the Clemson Tigers.

LaBrose Hedgemon is another top cornerback that has most major division I-A schools in the south beating down his door. As a junior last season, Hedgemon registered 32 tackles, 19 pass break-ups and 9 INT's, one of which he took back for a touchdown.

"My top 5 in no particular order are North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Louisiana State." said Hedgemon in a recent interview. "But I am preparing for the season and not really thinking about recruiting right now."

Hedgemon has all the physical tools that you'd like to see in a true cover corner. He has decent size at 5'11 inches tall, excellent speed in the 40 (4.43) and a 265 bench press headed into his senior season.

And speaking of the upcoming season, his team finished last season with incredible 14-1 record, and now Hoover has their sites set on a state championship. "We're going back to the playoffs this year to win it all." Hedgemon says. "My personal goals for this coming season is the set the state record for interceptions in a season and to make all-state."

To say that LaBrose Hedgemon has some bloodlines in his family would be an understatement. "My cousin is Steve McNair," said Hedgemon. "I met him at a family reunion at his ranch in Mississippi. My grandmother's maiden name was Louise McNair."

Hedgemon figures to be fully qualified with a GPA close 3.0 and an ACT score of 21. He also competes as a 200-meter sprinter on the track team.

The Tigers figure to be in good shape at the present moment with Hedgemon, even though he was only offered by Clemson just recently. Indications are that the Tigers are one of his early favorites for an official visit. North Carolina and Auburn figure to be the other top schools to beat.

We will continue to keep you updated on cornerback LaBrose Hedgemon throughout the upcoming season.
