LB Larry Asante Profile

6-1, 225 pound linebacker prospect Larry Asante was finishing up his last assignment as CUTigers called Wednesday night.

"I am in the library doing some work right now. I have to finish this last paper and then I am done," Asante told CUTigers.com.

The star defender will leave school and head to Clemson on Thursday morning for his final official visit of the recruiting process.

"Yeah I am leaving tomorrow morning. I will be going down to Clemson. I will be at Clemson until Saturday morning," he said.

Earlier this week Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning visited the 4-star defender.

"It went real well," Asante said of the visit. "That was my third time visiting with him. We go way back. We are cool now."

The Clemson defensive coordinator also told Asante that he would create a new position, the Stinger Safety, to take advantage of his athletic ability.

"I am loving that," he said. "I can do anything at that position. I can play up as a linebacker. I can play back as a free safety. I can move around and do everything." When asked if he has narrowed the list of leaders, Asante responded, "I am down to Clemson, Nebraska and Kansas State."

What will be the most important factors when the prize recruit makes his decision?

"I got to feel right," he said. "When you walk on campus you know if you feel right. You can tell if the coaches are telling you the truth. It will come down to academics and how I feel. I will look at the where I will be staying when I am there. I want to go back home and sit down with my people to make a decision."

What is the current timeframe for a decision?

"I should be ready to make my decision by the 20th," he added. "I will probably have a press conference the next day to make my announcement."
