The Clemson Tigers received a verbal commitment from Jacksonville, Fla. native Matt Skinner (6-5, 210) earlier today.
The standout long snapper traveled to Clemson Friday with his family for an unofficial visit.
"My mom, dad and brother came up with me. We are going to stay for the game tomorrow and then go home," Skinner told CUTigers.com. "After I took the tours today and talked with coach Bowden I decided to go ahead and commit to Clemson. The campus was awesome. The academics are great. When I met with coach Bowden he was great."
Clemson assistant coach Billy Napier has been recruiting the nation's top junior long snapper for the Tigers.
"Coach Napier has been recruiting me for a while. He is a great guy," he said. "He said I will play long snapper and could possibly play some tight end.
"Clemson has everything. They beat Florida State this year and I was a big Florida State fan. They have C.J. Spiller. They are heading in the right direction," added Skinner.
Skinner is the third public verbal commitment for the 2008 recruiting class.
The Tigers also have commitments from wide receiver Marquan Jones and defensive lineman Daquan Bowers.
