Tigers After Top NC DE

Clemson coach Billy Napier was responsible for the Tigers signing the best cornerback, defensive end and offensive lineman from North Carolina earlier this month signing day. Can he land another top defensive end out of the Tar Heel state in 2008? CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

DE Quinton Coples Profile

6-6, 230 pound prospect Quinton Coples will be one of the top defensive ends on the East Coast next year. The Clemson Tigers are one of many teams hard after the top defender.

"I have offers right now from Florida, North Carolina and North Carolina State, Coples told CUTigers.com. "Some others have said they were going to offer, but I'm not sure if they are official yet. I am also hearing from Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Clemson."

When asked about his current favorites, Coples responded, "Right now I like Florida, North Carolina, North Carolina State and East Carolina."

Coach Napier will be visiting Kinston a lot over the next year as he tries to convince Coples to join the Tigers.

"Coach Napier is recruiting me for Clemson," he said. "He is a cool guy."

The Tigers may get a camp visit from the prize recruit.

"I will probably camp at Carolina, State, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Florida. I might also go to Florida State," Coples said.

What will be important to Coples as he works toward a decision later this year?

"I will look at the graduation rates. I want to go where they have good facilities. I want to go where they make me feel at home. I want to see how hard they will push me to make it to the next level," he said.

The North Carolina standout is a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.

"My strength is chasing down the quarterback or the running back," added Coples.
