Tigers Squarely in the Mix for NC LB

Clemson assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Billy Napier pulled several of the top players from North Carolina last year and it looks like he could be in line to do the same next February. CUTigers.com has the latest on one of the top prospects from the Tar Heel state in this recruiting update.

LB Duane Maddox Profile

The offer list has been stable for the past few weeks for Duane Maddox, but don't be surprised to see more on the way in the coming months.

"I don't have any new offers," Maddox told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "It is still the same schools. I am hearing from Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan and Louisville."

When asked about his current leaders, Maddox responded, "I don't really have any right now. But I would say North Carolina State, North Carolina, Clemson and Alabama."

The Crest standout is not planning to take many visits this spring.

"I haven't been anywhere the past few weeks," he said. "I don't have any plans to visit anywhere right now. I am doing track right now."

"All of the schools are pushing me to come to camp. I will probably go to some. I haven't made up my mind yet about where I will go."

Any verbal commitment timing is not clear, but the pressure for an early commitment is definitely there.

"A lot of schools have been trying to get me to give an early verbal commitment, but I am not ready. I am not sure when I will be ready," state the star linebacker.

Maddox played with current Clemson track star Travis Padgett a few years ago at Crest.

"I knew Travis. He played with us on the state championship team. He is a burner," added Maddox.

Maddox is expected to be one of the top ranked linebackers in the country for the class of 2008. As a junior he recorded 110 total tackles.
