Tigers Battling for Top Georgia RB

Three years ago the Clemson coaching staff pulled a star running back from the state of Georgia in James Davis. Could it happen again this year? CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

RB Dontavius Jackson Profile

5-10, 188 pound speedster Dontavius Jackson already has over 10 offers, and most of those schools have been visited Heard County High the past few weeks to check on the star running back.

"I have had a lot of visitors," Jackson told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "Florida, Ole Miss, Clemson, South Carolina, Troy, Georgia Tech, Georgia and Maryland have all been by the school."

When asked about his current favorites, Jackson responded, "I really don't have any favorites right now. I plan on breaking it down over the summer. I think I will be ready to make my decision later this year. It will probably be around September, October or November."

The Georgia standout attended the Clemson spring game in April and liked what he saw in Death Valley.

"I went to Clemson for the spring game. It was great. I had a great time down there," stated Jackson. "I went to Alabama for A day. It was awesome. They had 92 thousand there for the scrimmage. There were a bunch of folks there."

Clemson assistant coach Chris Rumph is recruiting Jackson for the Tigers. The Tigers are hoping for a camp visit from Jackson, but his plans are not set yet.

"I am planning on going to some summer camps. I am not sure where I will go yet," he said.

What will be most important to Jackson when he selects a school later this fall? "I will look at academics. I will also be looking at playing time. I will also look at the atmosphere," Jackson said.

Which schools are recruiting Jackson the hardest right now?

"I would say they all are right now. They are all showing a lot of interest," he added.
