Nelson Still favoring Clemson?

Safety Maurice Nelson has all the top schools in the southeast looking his direction. While Clemson has maintained a lead for his services throughout the course of this year, several other teams are moving in, including North Carolina State.

Maurice Nelson Profile

Crestwood's Maurice Nelson, brother of Clemson linebacker Roosevelt Nelson, has named the Tigers as his favorite throughout the recruiting process. Would that still be a true statement today?

"Yes sir. I'm probably going to Clemson," said Nelson. "I talk to my brother probably every other day, it would be great to be able to play along side of him one day. That would definitely be important to me."

Nelson still has offers on the table from Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, and Maryland, and he's also expecting one from North Carolina State later this week.

Meanwhile, he's already made several trips to see the Tigers play this season. "I saw them play against Louisiana Tech and then against Georgia in Athens. Both of those visits went really well. I also went to a bunch of games last year too," added Nelson. Nelson, who is one of the top ranked safety prospects in the country, will likely play either the rover or whip position at Clemson.

"Coach Hines told me that they see me playing at either at rover or the whip position. That really fits me well because I can come up and give good run support or drop back in coverage. I'm probably one of the best in the state that can do that right now," said Nelson.

Crestwood High School continues the regular season this week against Richland Northeast. Nelson also indicated that coach Stockstill remains his main recruiter and that he'll likely wait until after the season to announce his decision on his school of choice.
