The 6-7, 265-pound prospect actually camped at North Carolina this weekend.

"Yes, I went to the North Carolina one day camp this weekend," he said. "It was good. I got to spend time with coach Butch Davis and the other coaches. I had a good time. I really liked it."

The stop at North Carolina was just the first stop in what looks to be a long summertime tour.

"My summer is full. Me and my dad have all the summer visits planned. We are going to Virginia, Clemson and NC State. We will also probably go to Wake Forest, South Carolina and some other unofficial visits," said Mattes.

"I am going to the one day camp at Clemson. I will be going down there on the 11th."

When asked about his favorites, Mattes responded, "Honestly I don't have any right now. I had a few that I really like, but now I don't have any favorites."

Which schools does Mattes really like?

"Well, Carolina obviously. Their camp was awesome. I love Clemson and coach Napier. I also like Virginia and North Carolina State.

"I will probably wait until mid September or early October. I want to take some official visits and check out some of the schools first," said Mattes.

In additional to attending several football camps and taking visits to other schools, Mattes has several other things planned for his busy summer.

"It is going to be a busy summer. I have a team basketball camp. I am going to a team football camp. I will also be going to the beach," said Mattes. Top Stories
