OL R.J. Mattes Profile

6-6, 260 pound offensive tackle R.J. Mattes attended the Tommy Bowden football camp last Thursday and came away very impressed with what the Tigers have to offer.

"Oh man, I loved that camp," he said. "I got the most out of it of all the camps I have been to. I really liked the individual work I got with coach Scott. He is laid back, but serious. He is kind of old school like my dad. He will get on you if you don't finish a drill."

After visiting Clemson for the second time this year, Mattes likes what he sees in Tigertown.

"I really like Clemson. I love it down there," stated Mattes. On Saturday Mattes camped at Tennessee. "It was alright. Most of it was just testing. It wasn't the best I've been to," he said.

"I am going to North Carolina State and then to Virginia. I go to State next week and Virginia before the 4th of July."

A decision is still several months away for the prize recruit.

"I am thinking I will take all of my official visits. I won't wait out the whole time. It will probably be around Christmas or January," said Mattes.

The talented athlete is currently at a basketball camp at UNC Wilmington along with his teammates.

"We are done for the day," he said. "We are playing a lot of games. I am kind of tired. We play like six games a day. I think the last day we may go down to the beach and scope out some ladies," said Mattes.
