RB Carlton Thomas Profile

5-7, 175 pound Carlton Thomas traveled to Clemson Friday for an unofficial visit. CUTigers.com talked with Thomas afterwards to find out the latest with his trip.

"It went very well," he said. "I came up with my coach and my athletic director. We went up and met with the coaches and visited the school. The visit was excellent."

Several Clemson coaches spent time with the Florida standout during his visit.

"We toured the facilities and talked with coach Bowden for a little bit. We went to get something to eat also. I got to see coach Rumph who is my recruiter for Clemson. I also talked some with coach Powell."

Did the visit improve the Tiger's chances of landing the prize recruit?

"Yes, it helped a lot actually. They said a lot of good things," replied Thomas.

When asked about his favorites, Thomas responded, "I took a visit to Georgia before I went to Clemson. Right now those two are at the top. I really like both of them."

A decision will come during his senior season.

"It will probably come sometime in late October. It will be after I have finished all of my official visits," said Thomas. "Right now I am going to take official visits to West Virginia, Notre Dame and Iowa. I will also maybe go back to one of Georgia or Clemson, maybe both."

What will be important to Thomas when he selects his college destination?

"I will look at the feeling I get when I walk on campus. I want to see how the staff makes me feel when I get there. I will look at the chances I have to play as a freshman. It will mainly just be how I feel on the campus," replied Thomas.

Thomas said he plans to make at least one more unofficial visit before the start of his senior season.

"I am heading to Auburn on the 14th. Then I am going to wait for the season and take my official visits," said Thomas.

As one of the Florida's most productive running backs as a junior, Thomas ran for 2,283 yards and 25 touchdowns.
