The Season with Kyle Parker - WEEK THREE

Bartram Trail (Fla.) quarterback and Clemson verbal commitment Kyle Parker is doing a weekly diary on to document his senior season.

I was pretty excited to see I had moved up to 4-stars on Scout last week. I have been working hard and it is good to see it pay off. I wouldn't say I don't care about the rankings, but I try not to let them bother me. It always makes you feel good when people give you high marks and say good things about you.

We had the media day on Wednesday this week. Every high school sent a couple of representatives to the event. The event was for the schools in the three counties around Jacksonville. Xavier (Brewer) was there with me. It was a pretty good time. They had people there from the local television stations, newspapers and radio.

I was selected to be a member of the Super 11. That is the top eleven players in the greater Jacksonville area. Xavier was also selected.

Jamie Harper was also at the media event on Wednesday, but I didn't get to talk to him. I have been thinking about driving by his house. I have been trying to get hold of him.

When I get hold of him I am pretty sure we can workout things for the trip up for the Florida State game. I think we will probably just come back part of the way after the game that night. I am pretty sure we will make it happen. I can't miss that game. I have never been to a night game at Clemson.

This weekend we had camp Blanding. It went real well. We got to do a lot of team bonding. Right now I feel real good about the season. We play a preseason game next Friday. We play against Fleming Isle. We beat them in a shootout last year 48-35. I may only go about a half.

I am planning to stay in the pocket more this year. We will still have some designed runs for me, but I hope not to have to scramble as much. Last year I had to scramble a lot. This year we are very solid up front. I want to work on my progressions, make the right reads and get the ball out to the open receiver.

My mom is up in Alaska now visiting the team that we helped. They won their game last week. They were down by 14 points with two minutes remaining. They scored one touchdown and the got an onside kick and scored again. My mom was up there for the game. They had about 3500 people at the game in a town that only has 4000 people.

Until next week ... Kyle Parker.
