DB Stephon Gilmore Profile

6-1, 175 pound junior Stephon Gilmore (Rock Hill, S.C.) took a trip to Clemson in early August to watch the Tigers' first practice of preseason camp.

"It was good," he said. "I saw how they run practice and stuff. It was good to see them." The talented athlete has several impressive offers already.

"I have offers from Clemson, Tennessee and Florida State. I am also hearing from Florida and South Carolina," said Gilmore. "I don't have a favorite team right now. I don't have a top five or anything yet."

Don't expect an early decision from the rising junior.

"I will probably wait until my senior year. I am not in a hurry," said Gilmore.

The two-way standout could play several positions at the next level.

"I play quarterback on offense. I play safety and corner on defense," he said. "Some teams are recruiting me as a corner or safety. Clemson wants me at free safety. I will play any position they want me to play."

What will be important to the Palmetto state standout when he selects his college destination?

"I want to find somewhere that I can fit in with everyone. I want to like the school and the coaches," replied Gilmore.

The South Pointe standout will be back in Clemson for the season opener against the Noles.

"I will be there for the Florida State game," said Gilmore. "I'm looking forward to it with the atmosphere and everything."

South Pointe opens their season this week.

"We play our first game this Friday. We open up against Irmo," added Gilmore.
