The nation's third-ranked defensive tackle according to Scout.com had an impressive performance last Friday in a tough loss.

"It went good," he said. "We lost in double overtime. I think I had eight tackles, one sack and two knocked down passes."

The 4-star lineman also took his first official visit over the weekend when he traveled to see LSU beat Virginia Tech.

"It was cool. I enjoyed it. It was fun, especially with the game going the way it did," said Thompson. "Right now you could say my leaders are still the same. It's Clemson, LSU and Georgia Tech are my leaders."

Clemson will get one of Thompson's remaining visits.

"I don't have any other planned just yet," he said. "But I am going to take on to Clemson and Georgia Tech, but I am not sure when. I am also thinking about taking one to South Carolina."

Thompson, who has come close to announcing a verbal commitment earlier this summer on several occasions, now says he will not make any announcement until after he completes his official visit tour.

"I am planning on taking all of the visits before I make a decision," said Thompson.

The prize recruit also said he was impressed with the Tigers victory over Florida State on Labor Day.

"I watched it. I liked it. I was impressed with the defense. Clemson played well," said Thompson.

Coach Napier spoke with Brandon following the Tigers victory.

"He was just checking in with me after the game," said Thompson.
