A Spencer Adams Update

CHARLOTTE - Last Friday CUTigers.com visited with one of the top defensive backs in North Carolina.

S Spencer Adams Profile

CUTigers.com traveled to Ardrey Kell High School Friday night to watch the Tigers top safety target for the 2008 recruiting class- 4-star safety Spencer Adams.

Adams helped lead Butler to a 49-7 victory.

After the game was tied at seven in the third quarter, Butler would score the next 42 points in a second half to win the game easily.

CUTigers.com spoke with Adams after the game to get the latest on his recruitment. A video of that interview is below, as well as a transcription.

What did the coach tell you guys at halftime to get you to come out and play so much better in the second half?
Adams: "We definitely came out flat. We had beaten this team 70-0 last year and we thought we could roll over them again. They came out playing. They are a great team. The way that they fight… We came out tight you know. He gave us a pep speech and we came out and did what we need to do and came out with the W."

Where do you stand on the recruiting front right now?
Adams: "Tomorrow I go to Michigan. I was supposed to go to Florida last week, but our game got rained out so I couldn't go because we had practice on Saturday. I didn't really want to put my personal endeavors before my team. I opted not to go to Florida so I am going to reschedule. I might go down for Thanksgiving for the Florida State game. Tomorrow I leave for Michigan and watch them play Penn State."

Which other schools are you looking at for an official visit?
Adams: Clemson, Virginia Tech hopefully and North Carolina.

Do you have any dates yet for those visits?
Adams: "Not yet. I haven't really knocked any dates out yet. I haven't really contacted the coaches yet to get the dates knocked out yet. I have been staying in touch, but I have been concentrating on the season."

Did you get a chance to talk with coach Napier this week after he came by to see you play last Friday?
Adams: "I didn't really get a chance to talk to him. Last week wasn't really a good week for us with the rainout and then we lost. I put the recruiting process off all week and concentrated on playing this game."

Do you think you will be ready to make a decision during the season?
Adams: "I am going to take as many visits as I can. See what happens. If I find a school that really fits me in my heart and my heart says this is the place I should be. Then I will go ahead and commit. If I don't I will take all five visits and then sit down with my family."
