5-Star DB Looking at Clemson

One of the top cornerback prospects in the entire country is looking at the Tigers this year. Does Clemson stand a realistic chance of pulling Dee Webb out of the talent-rich state of Florida? Anything's possible, and it sure doesn't hurt that is best friend Eric Sampson is already playing for the Tigers.

Demetrius (Dee) Webb hails from Jacksonville (FL) Edward H. White High School. Webb is one of the highest ranked cornerbacks in the country by TheInsiders.com and last season he brought in All-Conference honors as a safety and running back. He currently has over 20 offers from schools including Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. CUTigers.com had the chance to speak Dee this week to get the latest on his recruitment.

Which schools would say are recruiting you the hardest right now?
Webb: I'd say Miami and Florida would be recruiting me the hardest right now.

How have things been going for you this season?
Webb: Pretty good. We are 4-1 right now and we just beat the 5th ranked team in the state in class 6-A, but we still aren't in the rankings.

Are you playing safety or corner this year?
Webb: I've been playing as a DB, sometimes as a corner or either as an outside linebacker. I'm also the starting the quarterback. The last game I rushed for 64 yards and threw for 2 touchdowns.

What position will you be playing in college?
Webb: Probably a safety, almost everybody wants me as a safety.

Do you like playing offense or defense better?
Webb: It doesn't matter really, I like making plays, if I can do that a lot on defense then I'd probably say I like playing defense better. I like to hit.

Do you have a preference of playing in-state or out of state?
Webb: I'd rather stay in-state, but it just depends on the situation.

What schools would be in your top 5?
Webb: Miami, Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, and Tennessee. I'd say they are all about even, but Miami probably has the edge because I grew up being a big fan of them.

Has Clemson in been in touch with you pretty regularly?
Webb: Yeah they have. Coach Stockstill has been my main contact.

I heard you were going to the Clemson-Florida State game last week, did you make it over there?
Webb: No, we got out of practice too late so I didn't make it. I wanted to go there because my best friend plays for Clemson.

Who would that be?
Webb: Eric Sampson. We talk pretty regularly. He went to my high school.

Any chance you'll make it up to Clemson for an official visit this year?
Webb: Yes sir, I definitely plan on getting up there.

What other schools will likely take official visits with?
Webb: Miami, Florida, Florida State, and I think North Carolina.

Have you set up any official visits yet?
Webb: Yeah, I've got one to Miami on December 20th and one to Florida State the weekend of January 10th through the 12th.

We'd like to conclude by thanking Dee for taking the time to speak with us. We will continue to keep you updated on Dee Webb throughout the season.
